About Me

Hello, my name is Shania Channel, and I am from Sheridan, Wyoming. In May 2016 I finished my Associates Degree in Elementary Education at Northern Wyoming Community College in Sheridan, Wyoming. I am now pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education through the Outreach program at Chadron, Nebraska. I have taught second, fourth, and fifth graders through an after school program here in Sheridan. It was a great experience, and there was quite a bit I learned about lesson plans, the environment of the classroom, and just building that relationship with the students and parents. Technology played a huge role in this experience, but as most of you already know, there’s new technology that comes out every day, so it’s important to keep up with it. I always wanted to teach kindergarten, but honestly, the grade level doesn’t matter to me. What matters to me is teaching students and being the support system that they need in their lives. Besides college I have a part-time job at Perkins Family Restaurant and Bakery. I am in the bakery as well as prepping the food for the cooks. I love being outdoors and traveling. My creative side really shows when I do hands-on projects. I went on a trip June 2016 to San Diego, California, and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had. I had the opportunity to feed giraffes, rhinos, manta rays, and sea lions. Other than exploring the states, I like to watch movies and spend time with my family. My nephew is in classic kindergarten, so I have the ability to see his growth and be on the other side of the spectrum watching how his teachers are teaching and using their knowledge. These next couple of years I hope to explore how I’d like to teach my classroom once I start teaching. I’ve written my philosophy of education, but once you set your foot in the classroom, it could always change.

Here is a link to the weebly account I created that talks more about me and my philosophy of education.
